My father's velosolex:

BOOK WRITTEN IN FRENCH

Back cover:

Created in 1940 by Marcel Mennesson, the VéloSolex has, for decades, left the mark of its dark image of “a bicycle that rolls on its own” thanks to the Solexine. Whether in the city or in the countryside, he left indelible marks in the memory of several generations.

Over the years and thanks to a very structured dealer network, the VéloSolex has evolved quietly, been exported, then built in several other countries. The 1950s saw an anthology of accessories allowing you to no longer have the same VéloSolex as your neighbor.

The end of the 1960s brightened up, and color made its appearance, as well as an attempt to diversify production. Bicycles, cardan-mounted mopeds, then chain-driven mopeds, complete the traditional roller production. A diversification which will increase in the 1970s, causing the fall of the motorized branch of the Solex house.

But the 3800 has not said its last word, and continues its merry way under the Motobécane, then MBK brands. Now it has become a collector's item or simply a nostalgic vehicle.

The VéloSolex is always inseparable from the idea of simplicity. He represents, outside his native country, an emblematic figure of France and constitutes, as such, a true cultural and industrial heritage.
